Silence is a misnomer It should have been named Shylence Because when we shush for silence We say shhhhhhhhhh not sssssssss And shy people are normally shylent Shhhhhhhhhh.......
It's always interesting to me all the ways in which words can be interpreted. My first reading of this gave me a feeling of peace, as the idea of absence struck a zen-like note-- the absence of strife, the absence of chaos, the stillness of absence.
Reading it again, though, brought a more ominous feel as I thought of what might be behind your absence. I hope that you have peace in your silence, rather than strife. My thoughts are with you, hb.
I think of you often...many things I do these days remind me of you...like the book I'm reading and the classmate from Tehran who loaned me a volume of poetry.

I miss you too and think of you often. Remember the song "The sounds of silence"??? Hope you are well. Best, suki
Yes! So very true, you. So very true.
Sometimes it is the absence that screams louder than any sound ever could.
sound of absence is very difficult to be heard.

Hello hb,
Lovely post. In a silent way.
I've been thinking lately that
silence is a distillate of noise
Deep in a cave once
I heard the sound of my own brain,
electrical goings-on
Kind of a high whine or buzz
So there is always something
Until there is nothing
